For the final home game, the senior players and the Foreigns all have posters of themselves displayed at the game. They may take the posters home.
I took Thursday afternoon off to ride around enjoying the colors. Then, Bailey and I hiked a mountain called Red Hill. William takes a fitness class that today went hiking at the mountains near our camps in Weld. The boys won their final match 10-0 against a hapless team that has won only 3 games in 3 years. It was hard to watch. Tonight, they're at the Adley's home for a team dinner and a bon fire. You might not be able to tell they won by looking at this photo, but.... they did.
The weather has begun to turn and we're looking at snow for Saturday night. Moreover, the local big ski area, Sunday River, is planning to open on Monday! The boys won't believe what's about to happen.
The boys' Finnish friend Alex celebrated his 17th birthday. We brought up a slew of cheesy gifts including a crown, balloons, beads, and birthday glasses... Here are some photos from the evening taken by his host mom Marie. The boys won an important soccer match yesterday that propelled them into the conference championship game that may be held next week. They played well as a team, and both William and Sonke did themselves proud on the soccer pitch. Talk about an exciting game. The weather forecast for Sunday calls for cold temperatures and snow in the mountains. Below is a picture of Maine's talent mountain in Northern Maine from October 13th. I'll be heading off with my brothers to Mexico, and the boys will be at Connie's and Ben's from Sunday through Friday. One more regular season match on Friday. The state play-offs start in a week.
Connie and Ben invited us to a birthday dinner. Lucky me, I received gifts! Connie took some fun pictures of the evening. The boys got me a soccer ball, and it will always be displayed in my home. Today, we enjoyed a birthday hike. What a gorgeous day. After our hike, we had a fabulous dinner at Connie and Ben's with our friend Brenda. The boys gave me a signed soccer ball... all I've ever wanted from my soccer teams though the years is signed ball. Good boys. Enjoy the pictures of fall in Maine. |
