The boys had their first soccer match on Saturday again Monmouth Academy in Monmouth, Maine. The final result was 2-1 in their favor. William played a steady defense and battled the opponents' 10-minute surge at the end; Sonke made some brilliant passes through to striker Garrett Garbarini and played a hard-nosed kind of offense. Sonke landed a yellow card in the match as you'll read in the newspaper article, but I can tell you that it was an unwarranted card. To read the full newspaper article, click on this line. Hey Brigitte, Monmouth is an average team like ours. The strongest teams are coming up! We'll see how the boys do. Tuesday night will be a good test for them. Sonke really did NOT deserve the yellow card. The referee began to lose control of the match and he called fouls on both boys when they crashed into one another... it wasn't necessary. Onward... or as I like to say. Play On!
